Society Through the REI Theory – INTRODUCTION

Those of you who already know the book [psi] and those who are just about to enter its world have probably already heard that the common thread of the book is the REI theory. The REI theory offers a new perspective on the workings of our mind—that is, the processes in our head such as emotion, thinking, and behavior. The theory states that every person receives information from three different processors simultaneously. These are named Reason (R), Emotion (E), and Instinct (I). It depends on the power balance between them which one we will listen to and believe. This represents our character. Reason is characterized as analytical, logical, and values money. Emotion experiences everything through images and is a carefree hedonist, while Instinct is cautious, caring, and charitable. One of the advantages of the REI theory is also that its model of the minds that form an individual's character can be mapped onto society. In the coming weeks, we will travel together through the characteristics of societies ruled by Instinct, get to know societies ruled by Emotion, and use the REI model to look at the Reason-ruled society that Western citizens wake up to every day. Thus, we will learn how and, above all, why societies differ from one another. We will conclude this set of practical applications of the REI model with the presentation of a Just Society. A Just Society is a concept derived from the REI model that can be translated into the real world and into concrete practical solutions that take into account the welfare of all inhabitants.
