5 Languages of Love in REI Theory

Misunderstandings between worlds often stem from a lack of understanding of different ways of expression. Our three minds (REI – Racio, Emocio, and Instinkt) can express one and the same thing to another world in completely different ways. This leads to misunderstandings that are not the result of different expectations, but of a simple misunderstanding in expression. When it comes to expressing affection, our minds show it in completely different ways, which often leads to unnecessary misunderstandings.

Emocio: Emocio expresses affection through gaze, touch, and physical proximity. This mind does not need words; for it, a look from which it reads everything important is enough. In this, Emocio is very precise and does not misunderstand signals; misinterpretations of "looks" only occur when raising awareness of the meaning of flirting, where Racio plays an important role. Emocio usually does not misinterpret looks; we are simply not aware of how our Emocio understood something. Another way of Emocio's flirting is touching and closing physical distance, where the underlying motive is most often an inducement toward sexual intercourse. Emocio can also express affection with gifts, but these primarily have a symbolic meaning and not so much a material one as is the case when you receive a gift from Racio. Certain gifts also have a double meaning, so they are particularly desirable as an expression of affection. An example of this is precious jewelry, which with its aesthetic value represents a symbol of decorating something beautiful, while on the other hand, it also has material value, as purchasing such gifts requires sacrificing a part of one's wealth.

Racio: Racio expresses affection primarily with words, as well as with favors and gifts when they have material significance. Racio is thus the most concrete in expression and uses precise definitions for various forms of affection. With Racio, what it wants to communicate, it communicates. However, one must distinguish that Racio itself does not know feelings and therefore sometimes describes what it summarizes as the totality of the feelings of the other two minds. This is nothing unusual for Racio. Even if people with a leading Racio are considered "cold" in the eyes of others, this is not quite the case, as less important minds also play a role and not just the leading one. Racio also sees no need for constant repetition of the same messages, because for Racio "once said – settled until further notice." Since Racio is the only one that perceives time as a timeline, repeating what was said at a certain moment does not hold as much significance for it as can be observed with the other two minds.

Instinkt: Instinkt will express affection through attention, care, and trust. For Instinkt, an expression of affection can be the time spent either with a loved one or indirectly dedicated to them. In its very concept of thinking, Instinkt puts others before itself, and when it wants to express affection, it often shows this by sacrificing itself for others.

Comparison: If we compare all the minds, we see that there are such differences in expressing affection among them that one often does not grasp the message of the other two. In a partnership, this frequently leads to dissatisfaction, as for the individual it means a lack of validation of being loved, which those who are non-accepting and have a poorer perception of the value of their own world especially crave.
